Ground Fishing on East Side of Jeffries Ledge

June 5, 2009

On June 3rd a I took a party of four about 35 mile off the coast Of Southern Maine to the east side of Jeffries Ledge. We fished in about 200' - 250' of water in flat calm seas through parts of both incoming and outgoing tide. The fishing was fabulous with 2 people fishing the bottom with bait and 2 jigging with Cod jigs and Cod flies. The Haddock were hitting both bait and jigs while Cod were inhaling our flies (purple seemed to be most productive). Saw a few whales and some bait action on top of the water.
