Fished along the southern Maine coast with Jade, Stephanie and Rick. First sunny day in a week and fishing was pretty good. Lots of Mackerel around and we jigged up several to use as striped bass bait. While the Macks were quite large my recent catches of high 30s and over 40 fish have all been on horse macks (dead and alive). The swell was pretty significant and, as on last two trips, fishing up against the rocks was a real challenge. Steph and Rick worked hard and managed to bring 5 fish (as I recall) to the boat but they each lost a big one. Those big fish tend to head for the rocks and when they run the fluorocarbon leaders into the rocks it typically results in a lost fish - which is what happened to Rick's big one. Steph's big one broke the leader also but it was near the boat so we concluded that the fish must have run into the rocks early in the battle. Rick ended up with the biggest fish of the day and won the coveted "Big Fish Charters" hat!
