Fish Reports Maine and New Hampshire>
Still Catching Tuna

October 12, 2009

Well it's been a windy month. We have had a difficult time getting out because of the wind and rough seas. However every time we get out we are able to get on the Footbal Tuna and catch them. Today was a beautiful fall day here in Maine with 2 foot seas and loads of Tuna. We started out fishing "Old Scantum"....no luck so we headed out to Jeffries Basin where we spotted Tuna (here and there - not like the last time out where they were busting everywhere). We trolled spreaders and daiseys around the breaking fish and then let out enough line to get the line through the fish without spooking them and guess what? BANG!!! another Tuna on. We brought it to the boat and released it. It was about 48" and I'm guessing it weighed around 75#.....However, that was it, as we headed towards noon the activity died down and we didn't see another fish. Oh well they'll be there next time!
